Generation No. 1

1. JACOB P.1 TROUT was born in 1830 [possibly in Brown Twp., Miami County, OH]. He was NOT yet 30 in June of 1860 when the census was taken. Jacob died May 3, 1864 in Mound City, IL of illness during the Civil War. He married ELIZABETH "BETSY" MILLEDGE on January 26, 1850 in Allen County, IN, the daughter of CHARLES MILLEDGE and SUSANNAH SMOTHERS. She was born in May of 1831 in OH [either Franklin or Delaware County] and died about January 29, 1901 [Cert 874, Cook Co., IL -- Elizbeth Buck, age 69].

  • 2. i. GEORGE WASHINGTON2 TROUT was born January 1851 in IN and died April 18, 1921 in Virgil Twp., Kane County, IL. He resided in Chicago, Cook County, IL at the time of his death.
  • ii. ANDREW J. TROUT was born about 1855 in IN and died March 1, 1897 in Union Pier, Berrien County, MI. Andrew married IDA E. MILES on September 15, 1880 in Winnebago County, IL. Ida was born about 1856 in IL (her father was born in VT and her mother in NY). Ida died in IL on February 7, 1926 while visiting her sister (probably in Riley Twp., McHenry County). Andrew J Trout and his wife, Ida, nee Miles, had no children. They are both buried in Pine Grove Cemetery, New Buffalo, Berrien County, MI. Andrew’s tombstone is engraved, "Andrew Trout 1855-1897"; Ida’s says "Ida Trout 1856-1926."
  • iii. SARAH ELLEN TROUT was born May 15, 1857 in Avoca, Iowa County, WI and died June 1, 1940 in Sycamore, DeKalb County, IL. Sarah married JOSEPH FINLEY PADDOCK on March 31, 1874 in DeKalb County, IL. Joseph was the son of JOHN R. PADDOCK of NY state and JANE McKAIN of PA. He was born in 1853 in IL and died April 27, 1886 at his home in New Lebanon, DeKalb County, IL after suffering several years from the effects of a paralytic stroke and early stages of consumption. Following his death, Sarah remained single, raising not only her own children but taking JOHN SPELCE, the 5 month old son of her deceased [half] sister to raise as well. [EMMA BUCK was the child of ELIZABETH MILLEDGE and her second husband, GEORGE BUCK.]
  • iv. MARTHA “MATTIE” TROUT was born September of 1860 in Iowa County, WI. She married George A EDDY on November 21, 1881 in Gibbon Twp., Buffalo County, NE. George was the 7th of 9 children born to Asahel G. EDDY, who was born in RI but raised in NY, and Sarah COOK of VT. George was born August 2, 1859. Both Martha and George resided in Gibbon Twp., Buffalo County, NE with their 4 children at the time of the 1900 census.
  • 3. v. ALBERT "JACOB" TROUT was born between April and June 1862 in IN or WI [His mom said WI in 1870; Albert said WI in 1910-1930 censuses]. Albert died June 10, 1940 in Westmont, DuPage County, IL [per IL Statewide Death Index 1916-1950].

2. GEORGE WASHINGTON2 TROUT (JACOB P.1) was born January 1851 in IN, and died April 18, 1921 in Virgil Twp., Kane County, IL. He resided in Chicago, Cook County, IL prior to his death. George Sr. married ELIZABETH "ELIZA" RATFIELD on October 12, 1874 in Boone County, IL. Elizabeth was the daughter of WILLIAM RATFIELD and BETSY PARKER. She was born October 1854 in IL and died February 28, 1918 in Chicago, Cook County, IL. George and Elizabeth are buried in Lot 71, Section 16 of the Oak Ridge Cemetery, Hillside, Cook County, IL.

  • 4.i. ARTHUR MELVIN3 TROUT was born August 5, 1876 in Rockford, Winnebago County, IL and he died May 17, 1939 in LaSalle County, IL. He had resided in Highwood, Lake County, IL just prior to his death. Arthur married LILLIAN MAY BROWN, September 16, 1899 in Chicago, Cook County, IL. Lillian was born June 25, 1879 in Logansport, Cass County, IN and died December 9, 1943 in Highwood, Lake County, IL.
  • 5.ii. ALFRED HENRY TROUT was born August 9, 1879 in IL and he died October 7, 1927 in Cook County, IL. [Alfred had never recovered after being gored by a bull. He had been a farmer near Huntley, per his son.] Alfred married KATIE ELIZABETH FULTZ about 1904 in Chicago, Cook County, IL. Katie was born June 14, 1884 [per her tombstone] in MO [both her parents were from IN, per 1910 census info given by Katie; both her parents were from MO per 1930 census]. Katie remarried two times after Alfred’s death: (2) to JOHN HARKEN and (3) to MR. JOHNSON. In 1930 Katie and John were living in Elgin, Kane County, IL. Katie E Johnson died on June 23, 1963 and is buried in Forest Home Cemetery, Forest Park, Cook County, IL in lot 375, section 49 with Alfred, her first husband, and 3 of their 5 children.
  • 6. iii. GEORGE WASHINGTON TROUT was born March 17, 1883 in IL and he died after April 1930. He was in the 1930 Census in Forest Park, Proviso Twp., Cook County, IL. George Jr. married IDA PEARL (MAIDEN NAME UNKNOWN) about 1907 [probably in IL]. Per 1930 census, George was 24 and Pearl 17 when they married. Ida was born 1890 in IL [per 1930 census her father was born in OH, her mother in NY].
  • 7. iv. MARY FRANCES "FANNIE" TROUT was born December 3, 1885 in IL and died September 16, 1973 in Albuquerque, NM. “Fannie” married WILLIAM RAYMOND POETZL June 6, 1906 in Chicago, Cook County, IL. William was born August 31, 1881 in WI and died in 1950.
  • v. ( BABY) TROUT was born on (Unknown date) and died before 1910, [possibly in Chicago, Cook County, IL].

3. ALBERT "JACOB"2 TROUT (JACOB P.1) was born in 1862 [probably between April and June] in IN or WI. [His mom said WI in 1870; Albert said WI in 1910-1930 censuses), and died June 10, 1940 in Westmont, DuPage County, IL [per IL Statewide Death Index 1916-1950]. He married ALICE C. ENGSTRAND March 28, 1891 in Cook County, IL [license #165188]. Alice was born about 1871 in IL [per 1910 census]. Her parents emigrated from Sweden in 1868.

Arthur and Lillian are buried adjacent to Arthur’s parents in Lot 71, Section 16 of the Oak Ridge Cemetery, Hillside, Cook County, IL.

5. ALFRED HENRY3 TROUT (GEORGE WASHINGTON2, JACOB P.1) was born August 9, 1879 in IL and died October 7, 1927 in Cook County, IL. [He was a farmer near Huntley and never recovered after being gored by a bull.] He married KATIE ELIZABETH FULTZ about 1904 in Chicago, Cook County, IL. She was born on June 14, 1884 [per her tombstone] in MO [both parents from IN, per 1910 census info given by Katie] [both parents from MO per 1930 census] and died on June 23, 1963 in an unknown location. She was in the 1930 census in Kane Co., IL. Alfred, his widow, and 3 of their 5 children are buried adjacent to one another in Forest Park, Cook County, IL, in Forest Home Cemetery, Lot 375, Section 49. To see photos of their tombstones, taken March 11, 2005, click the individual’s name: Alfred Henry; Katie; Roy; Walter. There appears to be no tombstone for Alfred Jr., who appears to have died in Elgin, Kane County, IL on August 20, 1921 [death cert. #30274] .

  • i. WALTER TROUT was born about July 30, 1904 in Chicago, Cook County, IL and died of pulmonary tuberculosis on May 10, 1915 in Chicago, Cook County, IL (age 10). Walter is buried adjacent to his parents in Forest Park, Cook County, IL in Forest Home Cemetery (lot 375, Section 49).
  • ii. GLADYS TROUT was born about 1909 in Chicago, Cook County, IL. Gladys married MR.WHITE. I have nothing further on GLADYS TROUT or MR. WHITE.
  • iii. RoY TROUT was born about August 30, 1911 and died on October 15, 1911. Roy is buried in Forest Home Cemetery (lot 375, Section 49), adjacent to his parents. The cemetery is on the north side of Roosevelt Road in Forest Park, Cook County, IL.
  • iv. ALFRED HENRY TROUT (jr) was born about August 20, 1921 and died August 20, 1921 [premature birth]. He is buried in Forest Home Cemetery, Forest Park, Cook County, IL with his parents and siblings.
  • 11. v. CLARENCE C. “Bud” TROUT was born July 6, 1923 in Elgin, Kane County, IL, and died June 12, 2006 in Yuma, AZ. The memorial service on June 17, 2006 at Gila Mountain United Methodist Church where he had been a member., Cremation arrangements were made through Sunset Vista Crematory.

6. GEORGE WASHINGTON3 TROUT (GEORGE WASHINGTON2, JACOB P.1) was born March 17, 1883 in IL and died after April 1930 in IL. He was in the 1930 Census in Forest Park, Proviso Twp., Cook County, IL. He married IDA “PEARL” (MAIDEN NAME UNKNOWN) about 1907 [probably in IL]. Per 1930 census, George was 24 and Pearl 17 when they married. She was born in 1890 in IL [per 1930 census, her father was born in OH, her mother in NY].

7. MARY FRANCES "FANNIE"3 TROUT (GEORGE WASHINGTON2, JACOB P.1) was born December 3, 1885 in IL and died September 16, 1973 in Albuquerque, NM. She married WILLIAM “WILL” RAYMOND POETZL June 6, 1906 in Chicago, Cook County, IL. He was born August 31, 1881 in WI and died in 1950. Fannie and Will are buried adjacent to her parents in Section 71, Section 16 of the Oak Ridge Cemetery, Hillside, Cook County, IL.

  • 12.i.RAYMOND “RAY” WILLIAM4 POETZL was born January 8, 1907 in IL and died December 30, 1993 in Albuquerque, NM.

8. LESLIE MELVIN4 TROUT (ARTHUR MELVIN3, GEORGE WASHINGTON2, JACOB P.1) was born October 18, 1903 in Chicago, IL. and died June 15, 1952 at home in Highwood, Lake County, IL. He married ELLEN "LINNEA" VICTORIA JOHNSON April 17, 1943 in Waukegan, Lake County, IL. Linnea was the eldest daughter of JOHAN "VICTOR" JOHNSON and ELLEN PETERSON. She was born May 18, 1907 in Stoneville, near Ishpeming, Marquette County, MI, and died January 17, 1997 in Roseville, Ramsey County, MN. Leslie and Linnea are buried next to one another in North Shore Garden of Memories, North Chicago, Lake County, IL.

Child of LESLIE TROUT and ELLEN JOHNSON was a son, still living.

9. SYLVIA MILDRED4 TROUT (ARTHUR MELVIN3, GEORGE WASHINGTON2, JACOB P.1) was born May 9, 1910 in Highland Park, Lake County, IL and died August 22, 1974 in Kenosha, WI. She married OSCAR CHRISTIAN ANDERSEN February 7, 1930, the son of OSCAR ANDERSEN and NELLIE (MAIDEN NAME UNKNOWN). He was born at home on October 9, 1908 in IL, and died January 12, 1979 in Kenosha, WI .

Children of SYLVIA TROUT and OSCAR ANDERSEN: a daughter and two sons, one son deceased:

  • ii GERARD LEE ANDERSEN was born June 13, 1937 in IL and died November 14, 1938 in Highland Park Hospital, Highland Park, Lake County, IL probably of pneumonia.

10. ARTHUR HARRY4 TROUT (ARTHUR MELVIN3, GEORGE WASHINGTON2, JACOB P.1) was born September 8, 1912 in Highwood, Lake County, IL and died November 26, 1974 in Lake Worth, FL. He married JENNIE (MAIDEN NAME UNKNOWN). She was born April 1 (unknown year) and died before May 1985 [possibly] in Kansas.

Child of ARTHUR TROUT and JENNIE: a son, still living.

11. CLARENCE C. “BUD”4 TROUT (ALFRED HENRY3, GEORGE WASHINGTON2, JACOB P.1) was born July 6, 1923 in Elgin (Huntley), IL .and died June 12, 2006 in Yuma, AZ. The memorial service was held on June 17, 2006 at Gila Mountain United Methodist Church, 12716 E. North Frontage Road where he had been a member. His cremation was arranged by Sunset Vista Crematory. Clarence “Bud” married Gail on November 21, 1978. His first wife died and he remarried in 1978 to Mrs. Gail I Billo who survives him.

12. RAYMOND “RAY” WILLIAM4 POETZL (MARY FRANCES "FANNIE"3 TROUT, GEORGE WASHINGTON2, JACOB P.1) was born January 8, 1907 in IL and died December 30, 1993 in Albuquerque, NM . He married MARGE (MAIDEN NAME UNKNOWN). She was born January 24 and died about 1988 in Albuquerque, NM.
