Jacob P Trout

Jacob P Trout 1830 OH - 1864 IL

Direct Ancestor

Jacob P TROUT was born in Ohio in 1830. He married Elizabeth “Betsy” MILLEDGE in Allen County, Indiana on January 26, 1850. The first two of their children were born in Indiana. In May of 1857 Jacob bought two 40 acre parcels of land in what probably became Clyde, Iowa County, Wisconsin. That is where their family was enumerated in the 1860 census. It is also where their next three children were born. Their youngest child was born right about when Jacob enlisted as a private in Company A, 33rd Infantry Wisconsin Volunteers to fight on the side of the Union in the Civil War. He enlisted August 13, 1862 and on May 4, 1864 he died of illness and is buried in section E site 3749 in Mound City National Cemetery, Mound City, Illinois. When Jacob didn’t return from the war, Betsy moved her family back to Illinois and settled in McHenry County. There she remarried on January 6, 1870 to George BUCK. This marriage, too, was of fairly short duration because in 1880 she is enumerated as a widow with 3 small children: Emma, born in 1871, Nelson born in 1874 and Edward born in 1876.

The tree showing the direct descendants of Jacob P Trout and Betsy Milledge, insofar as I know it, is displayed in this site as “Jacob P Trout’s Line.”
